Rapidly increasing development and application areas of wireless sensor networks requires the deployment of highly scalable and dynamic communications paradigms for coping with the complex data management tasks encountered in distributed environments. In this context, the publish/subscribe communication mechanism plays an essential role since they provide quick and easy adaptation of the system to the dynamic nature of wireless sensor network environment. To shed a light on the design and implementation issues of publish/subscribe messaging systems we investigated how to apply publish/subscribe approach into wireless sensor networks and developed a novel application working on the network of both the real and virtual Sun SPOT sensor devices in a multi-hop manner. We present and compare the simulation results.en
