Abstract

Water Hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) has demonstrated its ability to remove nutrients and other chemical elements from sewage and industrial effluents. In this study, 10.00 ppm chromium, 35.00 ppm copper and 14.00 ppm nickel solutions were used, and absorption ability of water hyacinth was observed. Due to the positive experimental results on the removal of chromium, copper and nickel, its seen that water hyacinth may be used for industrial effluents under conditions in Turkey.
