Abstract

The metalcasting industry has played a significiant role in the development of everyindustrialized country around the world. The use of expendable foam patterns for makingmetal castings was developed and patented by H. F. Shroyer in 1958. The use of foampatterns to produce castings offers significant desing and process flexibility not possible withconventional casting processes. The full mold casting process has been applied successfully inmaking aluminum, bronze cast iron and steel castings.
