| dc.description.abstract | Currently, there is a consistently increasing demand for energy globally, with a significant portion of this energy being derived from electric motors which is why enhancing the efficiency of the electric motors is a crucial concept. Therefore, various studies are being made to increase the efficiency class in industrial electric motors. In this article, as an example to illustrate these studies, a squirrel cage induction motor with a power of 1.5 kW, 4 poles, and an IE4 efficiency class has been taken as a reference. The rotor of this motor has been modeled with three different magnet arrangements, and based on this, designs of 2.2 kW, 4 poles, IE5 efficiency class, line-start permanent magnet synchronous motors have been developed. The topology of the line-start permanent magnet synchronous motor has been preferred due to its hybrid rotor structure. The motor allows asynchronous operation during starting and synchronous operation under nominal conditions. The motor models were created using Ansys Maxwell software, and analyses were conducted for each motor model using the finite element method. The analyses yielded magnetic flux density, torque, speed, and current graphs for each motor design. Additionally, electrical parameters such as motor losses, efficiencies, and power factor were presented comparatively in tables. As a result of the study, designs of line-start permanent magnet synchronous motors achieving IE5 efficiency were derived by utilizing different magnet arrangements in the reference motor's rotor. | en |
