ON THE APPLICABILITY OF TRESCAS YIELD CONDITION TO THE LINEAR HARDENING ROTATING SOLID DISK OF VARIABLE THICKNESS

Abstract

Based on Tresca's yield condition and the associated flow rule, stress distribution in a rotating solid disk of variable thickness in the exponential form is investigated for a linear hardening law. It is shown that Tresca's yield condition cannot be applied to this problem.
