dc.description.abstractThis article ascertains the environmental impacts of tourism on three different Medieval harbour settlements; Alanya Hisari double dagger i District, Antalya I double dagger kale District and Kyrenia Old Harbour District which are situated on distinctive topographies and currently based drastically on tourism in East Mediterranean. The investigations on the environmental impacts of tourism performed at the medieval harbour settlements mentioned above. Environmental impacts of tourism comprise the titles below; topography, analyzing the changes on the blocks and their facades, determining the modifications on functions of plans, investigating the climate and scale relations among the human, path, block, and water surface, questioning the interest of the local community and the entrepreneur's participation in tourism. The classification of environmental impacts of tourism is drawn upon the model of H. Green - C. Hunter (1995) and Funda Kerestecioglu (1999). While the natural and built environments are consisted as the physical data, social environment develops in the title as the question of the entrepreneurs and local communities' participation in tourism economy. The harbour settlements which mostly conserve their topography, waterfront features, built heritage and their relations with water surface (although the trade function is retreated) since the Medieval Ages are the elements of cultural heritage. The outcome of this research possesses the determinants which will provide the settlement's permanence of tourism and the principles in order to convey the existing cultural estate to future generations.en
