In this study, two novel diaxially Schiff base substituted silicon (IV) phthalocyanine complexes (O-Pc and S-Pc) including heavy bromine atom have been synthesized and illuminated their molecular structures by conventional spectroscopic methods. In order to assess their potential use as sensitizers in Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) and Sonophotodynamic Therapy (SPDT) applications, photophysical, photochemical and also sonophotochemical properties have been carried out. The important parameter, singlet oxygen quantum yield (Phi Delta), was calculated as 0.35 and 0.72 for O-Pc and S-Pc, respectively, using only the light irradiation in photochemical method (PDT), while these values were increased to 1.05 using both light and ultrasound irradiation together in sonophotochemical method (SPDT). This study will contribute to the literature by revealing the ability of phthalocyanine derivative sensitizers to enhance singlet oxygen generation using the SPDT method.en
