Özet
Sodium metaborate (NaBO2), is a compound derivative of borax, is used in the chemical industry as photographic and textile chemicals, detergents, cleansers, and adhesives. Literature on NaBO2 used as sources of boron in the production of the NaBH4 methods is available. Therefore, the use of anhydrous NaBO2 in the energy field and the importance of both commercial borates class are growing gradually. In this study, solid state preparation of NaBO2 was investigated based on thermal analysis. Therefore, anhydrous borax (Na2B4O7) and sodium hydroxide (NaOH) were mixed at mole ratio of 1:2 and thermal analysis was performed at different heating rates. There were four endothermic peaks in the DTA plots, corresponding to four reactions that explain the solid state reaction mechanism.
