dc.description.abstractThis expository article discusses the elementary teaching of one-sided confidence intervals along with one and two sided prediction intervals. For being a complementary part of one-sided hypothesis test one-sided confidence intervals should be considered as an indispensable tool in Statistics. Despite this fact Turkish Statistics Literature has only focused on two-sided confidence intervals. On the other hand, prediction intervals for the univariate data have not been taken up to date. Basic Turkish Statistics textbooks invariably introduce the topic of prediction in the context of simple regression for the bivariate normal model. Adoption of the Hahn's approach may give prediction the prominent position in basic statistical education that it deserves.en
