An ideologist, an ideology: Recep Peker and corporatism

Abstract

As a Kemalist ideologist, Recep Peker's views, which were influential especially during the single-party period in Turkish political history, embody the potential of introducing theoretical developments to debates on the nature of the regime. With respect to such debates, some circles voiced the idea that the Republic of Turkey is of a corporatist nature. Analyzing the articles written in this context or the courses given by Peker within the context of corporatism, it can be asserted that as one of the leading ideologists of the single-party period, Peker was remarkably close to corporatism in the theoretical aspect.
